A Message from Our Director

Welcome to our website, and thank you for taking a few moments to learn more about SUWS of the Carolinas.

The overall goal of the programs offered at SUWS is to provide a life-changing therapeutic wilderness experience for young people who are struggling with a range of self-defeating challenges. The SUWS program is the beginning of a lifetime of change, not a short-term adventure. Through the wilderness we empower families to discover their strengths to restore hope and foster growth.

All of us at SUWS of the Carolinas understand that enrolling your child in a therapeutic wilderness program can be extremely difficult. However, rest assured that we take our responsibilities seriously and our entire team is dedicated to providing your child with the highest quality treatment available.

From the moment your child arrives on our campus until the day your reunited family returns home, nothing is more important to us than your child’s safety. While the wilderness can be a challenging and unpredictable environment, we have taken significant steps to ensure that your child is never in danger and, always has the equipment, training, and supervision needed to safely complete each activity. Furthermore, we have specifically selected each of our team members not only for their skills and experiences, but also for their compassion, professionalism, and accountability.

When you enroll your child at SUWS of the Carolinas, they will not become “just another student.” Our students are viewed from the perspective that they have many facets that make them unique. For this reason therapeutic interventions are tailored to each student and are adaptable as each student changes over the course of their stay.

Further, you will never be left in the dark about his or her progress, successes, and setbacks. You will have weekly update calls with your child’s therapist where you will receive progress updates about your child and will be able to participate in the treatment planning process. Additionally, because we recognize the importance of family in the growth process we provide all parents with a family component that include an online parenting source, a four CD audio series, and a three-day parenting workshop.

I and my staff look forward to working closely with you to ensure that your child’s experience with us is as effective as possible, and puts him or her on the path toward a satisfying and successful future.

Again, thank you for your interest in SUWS of the Carolinas. To learn more about how our school is uniquely prepared to meet your child’s needs, please feel free to call us at your convenience (888-237-1265), or complete the short form on our Contact page.

On behalf of the entire SUWS of the Carolinas family, I wish nothing but the best for your child and your family.

SUWS of the Carolinas

The wilderness therapy offered at SUWS was the dynamic solution needed to help my son with his behavioral issues. When my son left SUWS, he was completely changed for the better and also created new bonds and unforgettable memories! I can't recommend SUWS enough for anyone in a similar situation!
