Mark Cox , MS, LPC
Mark Cox has a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling; he is a Licensed Professional Counselor and is a Nationally Certified Counselor. Much of his professional experience before working in the wilderness was spent working in residential /inpatient treatment centers for dually diagnosed individuals (substance abuse and mental health disorders) within correctional settings. He has also worked in community outpatient mental health clinics as well as within Family Preservation Units with the North Carolina Dept of Social Services. Much of Mark’s clinical experience has been in working with adults and adolescents with significant anger, behavioral and substance abuse issues. Mark utilizes short-term, solution focused intervention techniques and integrates techniques of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy whenever practical. Mark‘s therapy style while being empathetic, is frequently focused on generating insight and behavioral change through challenge and behavioral confrontation. Mark spends much of his spare time practicing and teaching Aikido, reading, and spending time with his wife Andee and their three rambunctious dogs, Bear, Duke and Emma.
